Florida Bail Bond Reform

Victim Resources

Victim resources

Florida gives crime victims enforceable constitutional rights at every stage, including bail. This page explains those rights, how notification works, and where to get help.

Notification and protective orders

Pretrial release notification

Ask the State Attorney's victim-witness unit to register you for notification and confirm your contact information in the case file. Many counties also participate in automated custody-status notification. Notification timing varies by county records system, so registering in more than one place is prudent.

Protective orders and conditions

A judge may make no-contact provisions, stay-away distances, surrender of firearms, and electronic monitoring conditions of release. Separately, you may petition for an injunction for protection. Violations of release conditions should be reported to law enforcement and the prosecutor immediately.
